Scouting Report

Raleek Brown is a compact, explosive dual-threat back who finally found a featured role in 2025 after a winding college journey. A five-star by Rivals and the No. 3 running back in his recruiting class out of Mater Dei (by way of Stockton, California), Brown flipped from Oklahoma to USC when Lincoln Riley changed jobs, then bounced between running back and receiver across two seasons with the Trojans before transferring to Arizona State. With the Sun Devils he broke out, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2025 and pairing 1,100-plus rushing yards with the receiving value that made him a coveted prospect. NFL Draft Buzz lists him as their RB6 with an 85.0 player grade, while the consensus from NFL Mock Draft Database has him at No. 155 overall projecting to the fifth round. ESPN's Matt Miller flagged him as a riser after a 255-yard, two-touchdown explosion against Colorado, calling him electric in space with deep speed to run away from defenses and exceptional lateral quickness; scouts at the time pegged him as a Day 3 pick whose stock was climbing. The knock is size: at 5-9, 195 pounds he profiles as a complementary slasher and passing-down weapon rather than a workhorse, and 247Sports comped him to Nyheim Hines as a shorter, well-built all-purpose option who can flex to the slot. He committed to Texas out of the portal for 2026 with one year of eligibility remaining, joining a third program as a proven weapon who can align in the backfield or out wide.

Strengths

  • Rare timed speed with track-verified background, ran sub-11.00 100s and a 4.47 40 in high school
  • Electric in space with deep breakaway speed to outrun pursuit angles
  • Exceptional lateral quickness and short-area suddenness, twitchy redirecting and bursting out of cuts
  • Genuine dual-threat receiving value, capable of aligning in the slot without missing a beat
  • Forced 55 missed tackles in 2025, slippery contact balance for his size
  • Gained 607 yards after contact in 2025 despite compact frame
  • Creative chess-piece usage and return-game upside

Weaknesses

  • Limited physical upside tied to shorter 5-9 stature and lighter frame
  • Profiles as a complementary back rather than a true workhorse who can carry a heavy interior load
  • Will need to maximize strength to compensate for lack of size
  • Modest touchdown production in 2025 (4 rushing scores on 185 carries)
  • Took until his junior-plus season and a third program to earn a featured role
  • Scouts project a Day 3 grade with a fifth-round consensus, capping draft ceiling

NFL Comparison

Nyheim Hines (shorter all-purpose slot/back per 247Sports); De'Von Achane (slashing, dynamic speed back archetype)
