What counts as a correct answer?
Any player on a roster from 1950 through this season who fits both the row and the column, AFL years included. Franchise moves count for the team today, so Oilers seasons count as Titans and St. Louis Rams seasons count as Rams. Each player can be used once per grid.
How the NFL grid works
Nine squares, nine guesses, one new puzzle every day. The NFL grid is a 3x3 board. Each row is a franchise. The columns are another franchise, a college, and either a position or a first-round draft pick. Every square is where one row meets one column, and your job is to name a real player who fits both. Played for the Packers and played for the Jets? Brett Favre works. Packers and Vikings? Favre again, but he can only be used once per grid, so you have to know a second guy who did both. Tap a square, start typing a name, pick the player from the list, and the square locks green if he fits.
You get nine guesses for nine squares, so there is no room to throw names at the wall. A wrong guess burns one of the nine and the square stays open. Every square shows how many players fit it before you guess, so you know which ones are wide open and which ones are tight. Any player from 1950 to today counts, and franchise moves follow the team, so Oilers seasons count as Titans and Rams seasons in St. Louis still count as Rams.
The grid resets every day, and everyone gets the same nine squares, so your 7 out of 9 means the same thing as your group chat's. Finish, share the card, and post it without spoiling a single answer: the card shows which squares you filled, never who you named.

Start with the squares that show the most answers. A franchise and a big college usually has dozens; two franchises that rarely trade with each other might have ten. Spend your safe guesses first, then take the swings. When you are stuck, think about journeymen: a kicker or a backup quarterback who played for five teams fills more squares than a Hall of Famer who played for one. First-round squares reward remembering where a player was drafted, not just where he played.
