Carter Davis 2026 NFL Draft Profile | S from Boston College
Scouting Report
Carter Davis has quietly developed into one of the more intriguing safety prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class after a successful position conversion at Boston College. The Baltimore native arrived as a cornerback recruit from Mount Saint Joseph High School, where he was a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection with 65 tackles and three interceptions. Davis made the switch from corner to safety during the final week of training camp before his redshirt freshman season in 2024-a move that unlocked his playmaking potential. In his first season at safety, Davis started 10 of 13 games and totaled 52 tackles, three interceptions, and three pass breakups while demonstrating well-rounded skills. His three picks included a takeaway against Michigan State where he also forced a fumble, plus interceptions in back-to-back games against SMU and North Carolina. As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, Davis built on that foundation with 59 tackles, two pass breakups, and his first career sack across 12 games with nine starts. His missed tackle rate of only 7.9% in 2024 demonstrated sure tackling ability, while allowing no touchdowns in coverage showed his reliability in the secondary. At 6'1", 179 pounds, Davis has good length but will need to add mass at the next level. His ability to cover multiple positions-having played both safety and cornerback in 2025-adds versatility. While not yet a top-tier prospect, Davis has shown steady development and could continue ascending with another strong season.
