Davison Igbinosun 2026 NFL Draft Profile | CB from Ohio State
Scouting Report
Davison Igbinosun is a physical force on the outside in coverage and run defense, and one of the most improved defensive backs in the nation. A former four-star recruit, he transferred to Ohio State after his freshman season at Ole Miss, where he started 10 games with 21 solo tackles, 37 combined tackles, and five passes defensed. He stepped in immediately and started all 13 games for the Buckeyes during his sophomore season, finishing third on the team in total and solo tackles with 59 and 39, respectively. He duplicated his five pass breakups from his Ole Miss season and added two fumble recoveries to his resume, earning the staff's trust early and leading all Ohio State defensive players with 781 snaps. Entering the 2025 season with 141 career tackles (90 solo), 19 pass break-ups, and two interceptions, Igbinosun has become one of the most experienced defenders in the Buckeye secondary. He still brings the competitive nature to the position, but he's cleaned up the penalties and turned into a shutdown corner who takes pride in the run game and is as sure a tackler as they come. He's setting the proper example and executing his game at a high level with physicality in every phase.
Strengths
Excels in press-man alignment where he can use his physicality to throw off timing and frustrate receivers with extremely high compete level
Does a great job of getting off blocks while maintaining proper leverage to force ball carriers inside, then finishe's plays with good tackling technique
Uses well-timed lateral bursts to stay in phase with receivers looking to stack vertically and has recovery speed downfield to maintain connectivity
Natural Cover 3 corner who plays well in press-man and uses smooth backpedal to stay close to receiver near line of scrimmage
Identifies route concepts and quick screens rapidly and triggers downhill with a purpose, showing high football IQ for passing off routes and staying in phase
Improved head rotation to locate football when it's in the air, preventing panic mode and allowing him to use his length better at the catch point
Possesses NFL size at 6-2 and nearly 200 pounds with long strides and long arms to play on boundary
Hand timing in press allows quick access to receiver's chest to keep in hip pocket when turning upfield
Weaknesses
Feel for off-coverage is inconsistent, opens his hips too early allowing receivers easy path to manipulation
Backpedal deceleration transition is segmented and jarring rather than smooth
Grabby corner who likes to make contact through the route, which can lead to penalties despite improvement
Looks uncomfortable at the top of routes in off-man coverage and is more high-cut, which slows him down in vertical transitions downfield
Prefers to break hard on initial route breaks and will be deceived by double moves
Too often goes for legs as tackler, which at next level will result in more missed tackles
