D'angelo Ponds 2026 NFL Draft Profile | CBN from Indiana
Scouting Report
D'Angelo Ponds is an undersized but ultra-competitive cornerback whose elite athleticism and ball skills have made him one of the most productive defensive backs in college football. At 5'9", 170 pounds, Ponds is a massive size outlier at the position, yet he plays significan'tly bigger than his frame suggests and never backs down from any receiver. Before college, Ponds was a legitimate track star at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida, capturing state titles in both the 100-meter (10.47 seconds) and 200-meter dashe's as a senior. Following coach Curt Cignetti's move from James Madison to Indiana, Ponds transferred to Bloomington and elevated his game to elite status during the 2024 season. He finished his sophomore campaign with 57 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown), and nine passes defensed-earning second-team All-America honors from six different publications and first-team All-Big Ten recognition. Ponds starred on a defense that set Indiana program records for scoring defense (15.6 PPG) and total yards allowed. He is competitive in press-man coverage despite his size, playing with disciplined technique and eager physicality while demonstrating keen instincts for timing and eye discipline when playing the ball. His exceptional recovery speed allows him to regain positioning even when initially beaten on routes.
