Devon Jackson
Scouting Report
A big, dependable rotational inside linebacker.
The case for
- Big-game production, with career highs of seven tackles against No. 2 Ohio State and again in the 2024 Big Ten title game
- Steady availability, appearing in all 14 games in 2024 and recording a tackle in all 13 games played in 2025
- Sure, dependable tackler who rarely lets ball carriers escape once he arrives
The worry
- Very limited starting experience, with only one start in 2024 and two in 2025 entering his final season
- Has spent most of his career as a rotational piece behind other Oregon linebackers
- Minimal pass rush production, with no sacks in 2025 or so far in 2026
Full report
Devon Jackson is a fifth-year inside linebacker at Oregon, a 6-2, 242-pound Omaha native from Burke High School who arrived as one of the most decorated recruits Nebraska has produced in recent years. He was a consensus four-star prospect, a high school Butkus Award semifinalist and the top-ranked player in the state per ESPN and 247Sports, and he played in the 2022 All-American All-Star Game. His college path has been a slow build in a deep Ducks linebacker room: a redshirt year in 2022, a rotational role in 2023, then a breakout as a reserve in 2024 when he finished sixth on the team with 47 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He saved his best for the biggest stages that year, posting a career-high seven tackles against No. 2 Ohio State and matching it in the Big Ten Championship Game against Penn State. In 2025 he made two starts across 13 games and logged at least one tackle in every game he played, closing with six stops against James Madison in the playoff opener and four in the Orange Bowl shutout of Texas Tech. Through the early part of 2026 he has 23 tackles and his first career interception. The Fanspeak community has him unranked with an average draft slot around 224, which frames him as a late Day 3 or priority free agent target who will need to earn a roster spot through special teams and depth value.
Every strength
- Pro-ready frame at 6-2 and 242 pounds for an inside linebacker
- Has shown some disruptive flashes, including 2.0 tackles for loss at Purdue and a forced fumble against Illinois in 2024
- Special teams experience across multiple seasons, a key path onto an NFL roster
- Elite recruiting pedigree as a four-star, Butkus Award semifinalist and top player in Nebraska
- Ball skills dating to high school, where he had two interceptions, a pick-six and caught passes on offense, now showing up with his first college interception in 2026
Every weakness
- Splash plays are scarce, with 5.5 career tackles for loss and few turnovers created
- Only 15 of his 41 tackles in 2025 were solo, suggesting he often arrives as the second man
- Fifth-year senior with an older-prospect profile and modest draft buzz, sitting outside the community's ranked board
