Scouting Report

Horace Lockett is a mountainous interior defender whose 2027 stock rests on whether the flashes ever become a full game. AtoZ Sports verified him at 6-4 5/8 and 362 pounds, while UCF and Fanspeak list him at 6-6 and 355, and either way he is one of the largest players in the class. Draft Countdown's Brian Lamb calls him a run-stopping juggernaut, pointing to a man that size penetrating the offensive line and moving like someone far smaller, and a widely shared September clip had him beating both the guard and the center with a ghost move. He began at Georgia Tech, choosing the Yellow Jackets over Alabama, Oregon and Tennessee, and played 10 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023. An injury wiped out his 2024 season entirely, then a second season-ending injury cut his first UCF year to four games. The redshirt senior is healthy again and has played all five games this fall. AtoZ's Ryan Roberts calls him one of the more volatile prospects in the class: grade the flashes and a top-100 player appears, but the floor is low because the snap-to-snap consistency and the pad level are not there yet. Lamb reads him as a fourth- to fifth-round prospect, well ahead of his No. 237 consensus big board slot, and Walter Football projects him in the third-to-fifth range. If the consistency catches up to the tools in 2026, he could be a major riser.

Strengths

  • Rare mass at a listed 355 to 362 pounds with the frame to anchor the middle
  • Moves like a much smaller man for his size, per Draft Countdown's film read
  • Genuinely penetrates gaps rather than simply occupying blockers
  • Flash plays rated among the best of any defensive tackle in the 2027 class
  • Beat both the guard and the center with a ghost move on a widely circulated September clip
  • Attacks the football, already with a pass broken up and a fumble recovery in 2026
  • Recruited over Alabama, Oregon and Tennessee, so the raw talent was never in question
  • Healthy and playing every game for the first time in three years

Weaknesses

  • Two season-ending injuries in three years, and durability is the first question on him
  • Snap-to-snap consistency is the whole gap between his flashes and his floor
  • Pad level remains a work in progress at his height
  • Production has never matched the tools, with one career sack on record here
  • Lost all of 2024 and all but four games of 2025, so the film sample is thin
  • Entered the transfer portal again this offseason before UCF was able to retain him
  • Profiles as a nose tackle, with little evidence yet of three-down pass-rush value

College Stats

2026: 14 tackles, 1 PD, 1 FR in five games; 2025: 13 tackles, 1 sack in four games at UCF; 2024: missed season with injury; 2023: 25 tackles, 2.5 TFL in 10 games at Georgia Tech
