Tavion Gadson

Tavion Gadson is an interior defensive lineman at Kentucky who enters the 2027 cycle as one of the more intriguing developmental pieces on the national board. CBS Sports' Mike Renner slotted him 45th overall on his preseason 2027 top 100, and the reasoning was as much about circumstance as it was about production. Renner pointed to a handful of genuinely high-end flashes on last season's tape, the kind of reps that hint at a player capable of more than his box score showed. The complicating factor was usage: Gadson spent a good deal of his snaps lined up over the nose, a two-gap assignment that asks a player to absorb blocks rather than create disruption. New Kentucky defensive coordinator Jay Bateman is expected to give him a more attacking role, and both Renner and WalterFootball's Charlie Campbell framed that as the variable that could move him up boards. Campbell listed Gadson third among nose tackle prospects for the 2028 class at 6-3, 302, with a projected 40 time of 5.05 and a projected range in the first three rounds. Campbell's read was that Gadson's sophomore year, 28 tackles with 2.5 sacks, looked like a player just scratching the surface, and he flagged him specifically as a candidate to rise. He also noted that NFL advance scouts handed Gadson a good preseason grade, which matters at a position where evaluators are often slow to buy in on underclassmen.
