Lane is an athletic safety with good range and developing instincts. He displays fluid movements in coverage, transitioning smoothly from backpedal to forward movement. Against the run, Lane is a willing tackler, bringing proper form and leverage to the point of contact. In coverage, he demonstrates improving awareness in zone, understanding route combinations and reading quarterback eyes. Lane has the athleticism to match tight ends in man coverage and the range to provide over-the-top help on deep passes. He plays with competitive toughness and energy on every snap.
