Scouting Report

2026 draft class

Charles Demmings is a cornerback from Stephen F. Austin who became the first player in program history to receive a Senior Bowl invitation reflecting his rare talent emerging from the FCS level. A technically sound corner with legitimate ball skills Demmings compiled 35 career pass breakups and 4 interceptions across his collegiate career. He brings terrific poise and resilience to the position describing himself as having a "dry-erase memory" that allows him to bounce back immediately from bad plays without pressing or getting anxious. His ability to play press-man coverage at the line of scrimmage combined with his speed to match receivers makes him a versatile defensive back who can play multiple coverages. At the Senior Bowl Demmings showed both his ceiling and his floor recording one of the most impactful splash plays of the week with an interception off a Jordan Hudson comeback route against Cole Payton but also allowing a touchdown to 6-7 tight end Tanner Koziol who got his hips above Demmings' helmet on a corner route. His film study habits translate to strong situational awareness and a read-and-react game that keeps him in position against varied route concepts. He is low-maintenance with excellent character and competitiveness. However his Senior Bowl performance was inconsistent overall and his FCS competition level raises questions about how his technique will hold up against NFL-caliber receivers with superior size and speed. He projects as a Day 3 pick whose ball production and character will earn him opportunities to compete for a roster spot.
