The Arizona safety's journey to becoming a draft prospect is unconventional-he played dual-threat quarterback in high school and was recruited as an "athlete" before starting his college career as a wide receiver. He quickly switched to defensive back and has developed into a starting safety with sky-high coverage potential. Johnson played nickel in 2023 while transitioning to free safety in 2024, giving him experience both near the line of scrimmage and in deep coverage. His athletic tools are evident on film: top-end speed that makes up for other limitations and the ball skills of a former receiver. The position flexibility is valuable in today's NFL, where safeties are asked to perform multiple roles within the same game.
