Trey'Dez Green is the consensus top tight end in the 2027 class and one of the rarest athletic profiles at the position this decade. He is a 6-foot-7, 240-pound two-sport athlete from Jackson, Louisiana who arrived as the No. 2 tight end recruit in the 2024 class and logged real minutes for LSU's basketball team before football won out. That hoops background shows up everywhere on his tape: he posts up defenders in the end zone, boxes out at the catch point, and plays with a catch radius that erases quarterback error. As a sophomore in 2025 he became a featured weapon, catching 33 passes for 433 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games and setting the LSU single-season touchdown record for tight ends. His scores trailed only Kenyon Sadiq nationally, and he earned second-team All-SEC honors at nineteen. The South Carolina game is the showcase tape, an eight-catch, 119-yard takeover, and he closed the year with two touchdowns in the playoff win over Houston. NFL advance scouts graded him 10th overall on the 2026 preseason watch list and project his 40 at 4.55, genuine track-level speed for a man his size that lets him run away from SEC safeties. He wins from everywhere, lining up inline, in the slot, and out wide, and he owns the middle of the field while also stretching it vertically. The flaws are real and specific. He dropped five passes on 51 targets, and the worst of them came together on a blanked three-target night against Alabama, the best defense he faced. He aligned inline only 35.8 percent of the time and carries fewer than 200 career blocking snaps, so the blocking half of the position is unproven and currently a liability. His 1.46 yards per route run and 9.4-yard average depth of target say the production is still more mismatch than polish. None of that touches the ceiling.
