Xavier Scott's 2024 tape is the real evidence, and 2025 barely happened. A multi-sport athlete at Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, he played 11 games as a true freshman at Illinois in 2022, then led the Big Ten with 11 pass breakups as a sophomore starter in 2023. The 2024 season was the peak: four interceptions including a pick-six against Kansas, first-team All-Big Ten honors, a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist nod, and the most snaps of any Big Ten cornerback while lining up outside, in the slot and at safety. He sealed the regular-season finale against Northwestern with a late interception. He returned for 2025 and played three games. After breaking up two passes in a September win over Western Michigan, he landed awkwardly on an interception attempt in that same game and suffered a right foot and ankle injury that required season-ending surgery, costing him the final 10 games. In January he announced he would return to Illinois for a fifth season rather than turn professional. He reads route concepts and drives on throws with anticipation, and he brings real run-defense toughness from inside.
