Vicari Swain is a redshirt junior cornerback at South Carolina whose 2025 season served as his breakout and put him on early 2027 boards as a riser, following the path of former Gamecock teammate Brandon Cisse, who went just outside the top 50 to Green Bay in April. A four-star recruit out of Carrollton, Georgia, Swain redshirted in 2023 and worked as a rotational piece in a crowded secondary in 2024 before taking on a bigger role. At 6-0 and 193 pounds, he is a high-level athlete with long-strider burst, excellent hip sink, and the deceleration and recalibration to stay attached through breaks. PFN grades him at a prospect score of 85.21, ranking him 49th overall and seventh among corners, with hip fluidity, agility, and explosiveness all grading above 9.0. CBS Sports has him 38th on its preseason top 100, with Trevor Renner saying he liked Swain's coverage tape more than Cisse's. The view is not unanimous. A to Z Sports' Ryan Roberts came away lower than the preseason consensus, calling the cornerback film a letdown and the off-man technique lazy enough to hand out easy completions. Roberts still sees the upside in the explosiveness, length, and long speed but wants a significant technical overhaul before buying in. Swain is also one of the most electric return men in college football, with three punt return touchdowns in 2025 and All-American recognition as a returner. If the technique catches up to the tools in 2026, the traits point to an impact starter; if not, he is a special-teams weapon with a slower defensive climb.
