STM Take

Tier 3 (#19) 2024 breakout to tier 8 (#61) 2025 regression is a 42-spot single-year LB regression that flags either injury, scheme shift, or one-year context spike. The Elliss NFL-family bloodline plus the Idaho FCS UDFA origin makes the 2024 breakout remarkable. The 2026 question is whether Elliss returns to tier 5-6 territory or whether the 2024 finish was a one-year context spike.

Elliss came out of Idaho as a 2021 undrafted free agent, the son of former NFL Pro Bowl DT Luther Elliss and brother of EDGE Jonah and LB Kaden. He bounced through the Eagles, Patriots, and back to New England across five NFL seasons. His STTM career runs tier 3 (#19) breakout in 2024 with the Patriots to tier 8 (#61) collapse in 2025.

Strengths

2024 tier 3 (#19) STTM breakout as a 2021 Idaho FCS UDFA puts him in the rare outlier-positive late-bloomer class.
Elliss NFL-family bloodline plus the multi-team experience gives him real plug-in veteran value.

Concerns

42-spot regression from tier 3 (#19) in 2024 to tier 8 (#61) in 2025 flags either injury, scheme shift, or one-year context spike.
Patriots' broader defensive identity transition plus the QB rebuild compresses the structural support around Elliss.

What to watch: Whether Elliss returns to tier 5 or better in 2026, the threshold for confirming the 2024 ceiling was structural.
