Corey Myrick went from barely playing to a Power Four commitment in a single season. A three-star out of Colerain High in Cincinnati, he began at Marshall and appeared in eight games as a freshman in 2024 with three tackles. The transfer to Southern Miss changed everything. As a sophomore in 2025 he started in the secondary and broke out with 91 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble, and Pro Football Focus graded him among the top 15 safeties in the country. He closed with his best game against Western Kentucky, forcing a fumble and picking off a pass, then became a coveted portal addition and committed to Clemson for 2026. The tape shows a rangy, 75-inch defender with good timed speed who patrolled the deep field, read route concepts, drove on throws from depth and surrendered minimal production on a heavy coverage snap count. He also picked off a pass at Arkansas State while playing deep. The holdups are context and finish. The production came at the Group of Five level rather than against power competition, he missed 11 tackles, his man technique trails his zone work against quicker targets, and his run-support force is solid rather than physical for his size. Clemson answers the competition question directly, and his stock could climb fast if the coverage efficiency travels.
