Jack Kelly is a versatile linebacker from BYU who posted one of the most productive stat lines in the 2025 season with 106 tackles 23.5 tackles for loss 15 sacks and 5 forced turnovers showing elite pass-rush ability from the second level. At 6-1 and 242 pounds Kelly is a tweener with the positional flexibility to play both off-ball linebacker and edge rusher lining up in multiple alignments and creating pressure from various spots on the defense. He has a quick first step and developed pass-rush moves that allow him to consistently get after the quarterback and his 15 sacks demonstrate legitimate ability to win one-on-one rushes. Kelly executes delayed blitzes with patience approaching the line before exploding upfield with closing speed and he times his rushes well from multiple alignments. His high motor and pursuit mentality mean he consistently plays through the whistle chasing ball carriers 20-plus yards downfield with elite straight-line speed and sideline-to-sideline range. At the Senior Bowl he showcased his range during team periods and his speed and ground coverage ability made him a weapon against wide-zone formations and covering players out of the backfield. However Kelly's tweener frame limits him against the run as he lacks the mass and power to stack and shed offensive linemen at the point of attack consistently. His 22.4 percent missed tackle rate is concerning and his coverage grades are below average with a PFF coverage grade of 60.7 suggesting he struggles when matched against athletic running backs and tight ends in space. His play diagnosis can be slow impacting his efficiency on certain plays and he may project as a situational or complementary defender rather than a three-down player.
