Jager Burton 2026 NFL Draft Profile | OC from Kentucky
Scouting Report
Jager Burton is a high-level athlete from Kentucky who projects as a developmental zone-blocking interior lineman with the foundation and technical abilities to be effective at the next level. At 6-4 and 305 pounds Burton was the number one overall recruit coming out of the state of Kentucky as a four-star prospect and earned Freshman All-SEC honors in 2022 before starting 25 of his 29 career games. He is a quick and explosive athlete who plays with decisive hands and good punch in run support taking good angles and hitting landmarks effectively in the run game. Burton excels when playing in space with the ability to bounce outside to guard or work as a second-level blocker and he maintains low position driving through defender sternums on double-teams to generate movement at the point of attack. His zone-blocking ability is his calling card as he moves efficiently from point A to point B and has proven effective as a lead puller on power and gap schemes. However Burton does not play physically by nature and lacks NFL-caliber power and strength which shows up when he oversets and struggles in confined spaces against bigger stronger defenders. His feet sometimes become stuck against larger opponents leading to stalemates and he is susceptible to over-setting when eagerly moving to opponents. In pass protection he struggles against defenders with two-way goes particularly inside counters and he lacks a certain level of aggression despite his foundational skills. He profiles as a Day Three developmental prospect and role-specific contributor whose best fit is in a zone-running scheme where his mobility is prioritized over power.
