STM Take

Five Pro Bowls plus three 1st-team All-Pros plus the 2022 tier 1 (#7) STTM peak plus the Alabama 2017 CFP National Championship pedigree establishes Fitzpatrick as one of the elite safeties of his generation. The 2025 tier 3 (#17) Miami bounce-back after two tier 5-7 years puts him in the rare change-of-scenery rebound class. The 2026 question is whether Fitzpatrick returns to tier 2 territory or whether the structural late-prime ceiling stabilizes at top-25 S.

Fitzpatrick came out of Alabama as the Miami Dolphins' 1st-round pick (11th overall) in 2018 after winning the 2017 CFP National Championship. He has made five Pro Bowls (2019-2022, 2024) plus earned three 1st-team All-Pro selections (2019, 2020, 2022). He was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers back to the Dolphins in 2025. His STTM career runs tier 2 (#14) in 2021, tier 1 (#7) in 2022, tier 5 (#38) in 2023, tier 7 (#53) in 2024, and tier 3 (#17) bounce-back in 2025.

Strengths

  • Five Pro Bowls plus three 1st-team All-Pros plus the 2022 tier 1 (#7) STTM peak plus Alabama 2017 CFP National Championship pedigree establishes Hall-of-Fame trajectory S résumé.
  • Alabama 11th overall draft pedigree plus eight years of NFL elite production gives him the rare championship-pedigree elite career foundation.

Concerns

  • Two-year decline from tier 1 (#7) in 2022 to tier 7 (#53) in 2024 confirms the structural mid-career decline was real.
  • Miami's broader defensive identity around the Tua Tagovailoa offensive instability puts continued Fitzpatrick production partly outside his control.

What to watch: Whether Fitzpatrick returns to tier 2 (top 15) in 2026, the threshold for confirming the late-prime ceiling can be sustained.
