James is an athletic, sideline-to-sideline linebacker with excellent range and developing instincts. He displays impressive closing speed, quickly filling gaps against the run and pursuing ball carriers to the boundary. In coverage, James demonstrates fluid movement skills, carrying tight ends down the seam and matching running backs out of the backfield. He shows good blitzing ability, timing his rushes well and using his athleticism to defeat blockers. James is a physical tackler who brings proper form and leverage to the point of contact. He plays with high competitive toughness and energy on every snap.
