Wyatt Young is the rare Group of Five slot receiver whose production is loud enough to force the issue. A do-everything quarterback, running back and receiver at Tompkins in the Houston area, he scored 56 high school touchdowns and won back-to-back District 19-6A MVP honors before signing with North Texas, where he led all Mean Green freshmen with 295 receiving yards and two scores in 2024. The sophomore year was the breakout: 70 catches for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns, the second-most receiving yards in a single season in program history, including a conference-record night against Rice. The number that defines him is 768 yards after the catch. He worked almost exclusively inside, uncovering instantly against inside leverage, reading zone like a veteran, and turning short throws into long gains with sudden feet and contact balance. That earned first-team all-conference honors, several first-team All-America nods, and heavy Power Four portal interest. He committed to Oklahoma State for 2026 as one of the more coveted Group of Five receivers available. The questions are role and level. He took roughly 15 snaps outside all season, his 195-pound frame invites contact from bigger nickels, and his contested resume is thin because he rarely had to win in traffic against the coverage he faced. If the separation holds up against Big 12 corners this fall, the current ranking looks conservative.
