Josh Cuevas is a versatile tight end who walked on at Cal Poly before transferring to Washington and then Alabama where he had his best statistical season with 37 receptions for 411 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2025. At 6-3 and 256 pounds he is a classic do-it-all tight end capable of lining up in the slot out wide and at H-back giving offensive coordinators scheme flexibility without substitution tells. Cuevas is a smooth route runner who uses manipulation tactics in off-man coverage including speed dilation and route intention disguise to create separation. He has soft reliable hands with good ball tracking ability and looks to get upfield quickly after the catch. His toughness is exceptional as he broke his foot in November and returned to play in just over a month. He is a functional blocker who works to keep hands inside and maintain clean technique from multiple alignments. His special teams experience adds immediate NFL roster value beyond offensive snaps. However he needs to get significantly stronger at the point of attack to sustain blocks at the NFL level. His feet get sluggish when locked up with defenders in blocking and he lacks physicality after the catch often going down on first contact. ESPN's Mel Kiper classified him as a fullback or H-back rather than a traditional tight end ranking him 7th at that position. PFF ranked him TE5 on their big board at 95th overall while Bleacher Report graded him at 6.7 ranking him 132nd overall and TE11 comparing him to Cade Otton.
