STM Take
Tier 1 (#7) breakout in 2025 for a 244th overall pick plus the Elliss NFL-family bloodline puts Kaden in the rarest outlier-positive class at the LB position. The Idaho FCS origin plus the Falcons' structural defensive scheme appears to be the catalyst. The 2026 question is whether Elliss earns his first Pro Bowl plus holds tier 1 territory or whether the 2025 finish was a one-year context spike.
Elliss came out of Idaho as the New Orleans Saints' 7th-round pick (244th overall) in 2019, the son of former NFL Pro Bowl DT Luther Elliss and brother of EDGE Jonah Elliss. He spent four years in New Orleans before signing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. His STTM career runs tier 3 (#22) in 2023, tier 5 (#39) in 2024, and tier 1 (#7) breakout in 2025.
Strengths
- Tier 1 (#7) STTM breakout for a 244th overall pick puts him in the rarest outlier-positive class at the LB position.
- Elliss NFL-family bloodline (Luther Elliss, Jonah Elliss) plus the Falcons' structural defensive scheme gives him real developmental foundation.
Concerns
- Single tier 1 finish in an otherwise tier 3-5 STTM history puts the 2025 production on a small sample with downside risk.
- Atlanta's broader defensive identity around the Walker-Pearce double-1st-round investment compresses the structural support around Elliss.
What to watch: Whether Elliss earns his first Pro Bowl in 2026 plus holds tier 2 or better, the threshold for confirming the 2025 breakout was structural.
