Tanner Koziol is a rare blend of pure athletic playmaking and size at the tight end position, using his imposing 6'7" frame to create mismatche's that defenses struggle to contain. The former two-star recruit began his career at Ball State, where he broke out as a junior with 94 catches for 839 yards and eight touchdowns-numbers that earned him first-team Group of 5 All-American honors from HERO Sports and third-team All-America recognition from College Football Network. His performance attracted Houston's attention, and as a highly-impactful transfer addition, Koziol finished in the top three among tight ends nationally in receiving yards with 651. His career numbers are staggering: 23 touchdowns across his collegiate career demonstrate his elite red-zone efficiency. Koziol's 6'7" frame creates immediate red-zone mismatche's and provides a massive catching radius that quarterbacks love to target. He wins 61% of his contested targets, making him a potential red-zone machine in the NFL. His ball skills and body control for a player his size are impressive, and he secured 94 receptions in 2024 despite heavy target volume, demonstrating reliability in clutch situations. However, Koziol doesn't offer much upside as an in-line tight end-his poor natural leverage, wide base at the point of attack, and inability to anchor limit his blocking value.
