Powell-Ryland is an explosive edge defender with an impressive first step and bend around the corner. He demonstrates good hand usage to defeat offensive tackles and the flexibility to flatten to the quarterback. As a pass rusher, he has a developing array of moves and counters to win one-on-one matchups. Against the run, Powell-Ryland shows the strength to set the edge and the pursuit speed to make plays from the backside. He plays with high motor and effort on every snap, rarely giving up on plays even when initially blocked.
