Scouting Report

Washington · 2026 draft class

Denzel Boston is what NFL teams want in a boundary X-receiver, though his lack of instantaneous explosiveness may hold him back. The former 3-star recruit from the 2022 class patiently waited his turn behind future NFL draftees Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja'Lynn Polk before having a breakout 2024 with 63 receptions for 834 yards and 9 touchdowns. Boston is known for outstanding body control and ball skills that enable him to consistently win contested catches. He tracks the football well working down the field and is a red-zone weapon on fade throws. For a receiver of his size and stature, Boston is surprisingly fluid, running efficient double moves while displaying ability to sink hips and drive out of breaks. He is a matchup nightmare for smaller nickel cornerbacks when aligned in the slot, using his strong frame to box defenders out.

  • Lacks elite top-end speed to threaten deep vertically
  • Physical contact slows down momentum and progress
  • Needs expanded release package for more variety and craftiness
