Justin Joly 2026 NFL Draft Profile | TE from NC State

Scouting Report

Justin Joly has established himself as one of the most productive and physical tight ends in the 2026 NFL Draft class, earning the reputation as a "bully" who wins contested catches at a ridiculous clip. The Brewster, New York native began his career at UConn as a 215-pound tweener between receiver and tight end before transferring to NC State where his game fully blossomed. Joly's freshman year at UConn brought modest production with 18 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns, but his sophomore campaign saw the metamorphosis accelerate-56 catches for 578 yards announced his arrival as a legitimate receiving threat. After entering the transfer portal, NC State came calling and Joly erupted in 2024 with 43 catches for a team-leading 661 yards, averaging an eye-popping 15.4 yards per reception-fourth best among all FBS tight ends. Those 43 receptions marked the fifth-highest single-season total for a tight end in Wolfpack history. In 2025, Joly continued his excellence with 47 receptions for 468 yards and 7 touchdowns, cementing his status as a red-zone weapon. At 6'3", 251 pounds, Joly's athletic profile is built on contact confidence-he doesn't need perfect separation to win and is comfortable taking hits, finishing through hands, and turning routine catches into extra yards. NC State used him as a Swiss-army knife in-line, wing, slot, and detached positions. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks him as the No. 2 fullback/H-back prospect. However, blocking remains his complication-for a sturdier player, he hasn't been consistently effective at the point of attack. He projects as a Day 3 selection with immediate third-down and red-zone value.
