Nate Boerkircher 2026 NFL Draft Profile | TE from Texas A&M
Scouting Report
Nate Boerkircher is a blocking-first tight end from Texas A&M who has more in the tank as a route-runner than expected for a developmental prospect. A former walk-on at Nebraska who transferred to Texas A&M as a 3-star prospect Boerkircher caught 19 passes for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2025 in a limited receiving role but showed intriguing offensive upside beyond the stat line. At 6-4 and 250 pounds he plays with a finisher's mentality lining up blocks on the move with focused accuracy and is not afraid to knock defenders off their feet with determination. His zone coverage recognition stands out as he settles into vacated space as a reliable option for his quarterback finding soft spots in coverage with good awareness. Boerkircher is a reliable pass-catcher who attacks the ball with his hands and has a good feel for adjusting his route path based on defensive leverage flashing stem manipulation tactics that create separation. He will earn a living as an extra blocker in the run and screen game with the ability to wipe out defenders on the move and in space. At the Senior Bowl he showed competency in pass-protection and route-running drills logging 22 snaps with 4 positive grades in one-on-one pass situations and zero negative marks. However Boerkircher lacks pop at the point of attack as an in-line blocker allowing defenders into his chest to control the engagement and he needs to locate his hands better for consistent leverage in the run game. He is not an overly explosive or agile athlete and has not proved to be a significant threat after the catch with limited ability to create space once the ball is in his hands. Man coverage is tough for him to shake loose from as he lacks the burst and agility for consistent separation. Bleacher Report graded him 6.3 ranking him 176th overall and TE15 comparing him to Daniel Bellinger. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranked him 9th among tight ends.
