Scouting Report

Boston College · 2026 draft class

Quintayvious Hutchins is a versatile edge rusher from Boston College who was named team captain in 2025 and earned invitations to both the Senior Bowl and the 2026 NFL Combine after a five-year career with the Eagles. At 6-3 and 240 pounds Hutchins has an unusual background having once transitioned from defensive end to tight end before switching back to defense where he accumulated 35 tackles 7 quarterback hits and 2 sacks in 10 games with 9 starts in 2025. His 2024 season was more productive with 31 tackles 5.5 tackles for loss 3.5 sacks 2 fumble recoveries 1 forced fumble and 8 quarterback hurries across 13 games. At the Senior Bowl Hutchins had one of the cleanest one-on-one wins of the day beating Max Iheanachor through the B-gap with a two-handed swipe showing technical hand placement and gap recognition that impressed evaluators. He also participated in a T-E stunt with Gracen Halton demonstrating his ability to execute complex defensive line games. His positional flexibility from his tight end experience provides football intelligence and understanding of both sides of the ball. However Hutchins has limited sack production with just 5.5 sacks over his 2024-2025 seasons combined which is low for an edge rusher seeking to be drafted. His position versatility may indicate a lack of standout pass-rush prowess and he projects more as a run defender than an elite pass rusher at the next level. He is a three-star prospect who needed five years to develop suggesting he may lack elite physical tools.
