Reggie Virgil is a savvy vertical wide receiver from Texas Tech who earned a second-round grade from Bleacher Report after a breakout 2025 campaign in the Big 12. Originally a 3-star recruit who spent three seasons at Miami of Ohio before transferring to Texas Tech Virgil developed into one of the most productive receivers in the conference. He is a good vertical-route salesman who makes routes appear the same before the break point disguising his intentions effectively to create separation on deep balls and comebacks. At 6-2 and 188 pounds Virgil possesses the size frame and speed to win consistently on the outside as a boundary receiver capable of threatening defenses vertically. He plays with good tempo and suddenness at the line of scrimmage with quick releases versus press coverage using short-area quickness and violent intentional steps to elude defensive backs off the line. His plus-level acceleration and burst after the catch allow him to quickly transition from receiver to runner creating yards after contact. Virgil is a strong confident hands-catcher who plucks passes over defensive backs in contested situations showing a strong catch radius and reliable ball-tracking skill set. He also contributes as a competitive perimeter blocker using his frame to seal off defenders. However Virgil does not offer much wiggle or creativity after the catch and does not force missed tackles in space. His salesmanship on double moves feels rushed and his route stems can provide indicators to veteran NFL corners as he raises his shoulders and pad level when gearing to sink at breaking points. He drifts toward the sideline on outside speed releases and go routes needing to maintain better positioning to give quarterbacks room to lead him. Bleacher Report ranked him 48th overall and WR10 with a 7.6 grade comparing him to Alec Pierce.
