STM Take

The career arc has been jagged but elite. From tier 1 (#1) in 2019 to tier 1 (#2) in 2024 with a Super Bowl in between is a Hall-of-Very-Good baseline. But the crash to #50 (tier 7) in 2025 is the worst single-season finish of his career, and the 2025 game log (six of eight weeks under 11 PPR) suggests the ankle never returned to full speed. At 30 the rebound depends entirely on whether the ankle settles back to baseline.

Godwin came out of Penn State as Tampa Bay's 3rd-round pick (84th overall) in 2017. He has spent his entire nine-year career in Tampa Bay, posting four 1,000-yard receiving seasons, two Pro Bowl selections (2019, 2024), and a Super Bowl LV ring. His 2019 tier 1 #1 finish (1,333 yards, 9 TDs) was his career peak, and his 2024 #2 (tier 1) at age 28 showed he could still be a top-2 producer. A dislocated ankle in October 2024 derailed the back half of that season and the 2025 #50 (tier 7) finish shows the injury fallout has been deeper than expected.

Strengths

  • Four career 1,000-yard seasons, two Pro Bowls (2019, 2024), and a Super Bowl LV ring. The 2019 tier 1 #1 finish (1,333 yards, 9 TDs) and 2024 #2 finish bookend a career-long elite production window.
  • Wk 17 2025's 23.8 PPR shows the ceiling is intact when health cooperates. Career route running and Tom Brady-era trust patterns make him an evergreen asset to any QB.

Concerns

  • Crash from tier 1 #2 in 2024 to tier 7 #50 in 2025 is the worst single-season decline of his career. Six of his last eight 2025 weeks scored under 11 PPR.
  • The October 2024 ankle dislocation has been the consistent overhang on his 2025 production. At 30 with that injury history, rebounding to even tier 4 is not guaranteed.

What to watch: Whether the offseason allows full ankle recovery, because his entire game depends on the route-running burst the ankle disrupts.
