JC Davis has quietly developed into one of the most efficient pass-blocking tackles in college football, earning First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2025 after a nomadic journey through three different programs. The Oakland, California native attended McClymonds High School where he primarily played defensive tackle before being recruited to Contra Costa College as a left tackle. Davis began his four-year career at New Mexico in 2022, starting all 12 games and earning honorable mention All-Mountain West recognition. He followed that with a First Team All-Mountain West selection in 2023 after again starting all 12 games. After the 2023 season, Davis transferred to Illinois and immediately became a fixture at left tackle. He started all 13 games in 2024, earning Third Team All-Big Ten honors, then took another step forward in 2025 with First Team All-Big Ten recognition before declaring for the NFL Draft and opting out of the Music City Bowl. The numbers tell the story of his improvement: Davis hasn't allowed a sack since week two of 2025, and Pro Football Focus rewarded him with an 85.6 overall season grade-the second-highest mark among all offensive tackles in college football. At 6'5", 315 pounds, Davis displays a quick first step and ability to fire forward in the run game. His mass makes him difficult to get around, and when he can latch on with proper hand placement, he finishe's blocks effectively. However, Davis projects best at guard due to his struggles moving in space and vulnerability to counter moves and misdirection. He doesn't handle twists and stunts properly and is slow to redirect, which limits his projection as a pure tackle at the next level.
