STM Take

11 Pro Bowls plus three 1st-team All-Pros is unambiguously Hall-of-Fame trajectory regardless of how the career closes. Four straight top-15 STTM finishes (#15, #12, #9, #33 with brief injuries) confirm the dominance through 2023. The 2025 tier 5 (#39) at age 38 reflects the structural decline of the late chapter, but every season at his age that the body still functions is a bonus.

Williams came out of Oklahoma as Washington's 1st-round pick (4th overall) in 2010. He made 11 Pro Bowls (2012-2018, 2020-2023) and three 1st-team All-Pro selections (2020, 2021, 2023), establishing himself as one of the greatest LTs in NFL history. He missed the entire 2019 season in a contract holdout, was traded to San Francisco in 2020, and has anchored the 49ers offense for six seasons. The 2023 tier 2 (#9) finish was his late-career peak. The 2024 tier 5 (#33) and 2025 tier 5 (#39) finishes reflect his age-38 decline.

Strengths

  • 11 Pro Bowls plus three 1st-team All-Pro selections establishes a Hall-of-Fame career baseline. Career-long elite production at LT plus the willingness to play through age 38.
  • 2023 tier 2 (#9) finish at age 35 plus three other consecutive top-15 finishes (#15, #12, #15) confirms the dominance through the late career.

Concerns

  • Two straight tier 5 finishes (#33, #39) confirms the age-related decline is here. At 38 the structural drop is rapid.
  • 49ers' offensive line transition (eventual Williams retirement) plus the Brock Purdy protection scheme adjustments compresses Williams's last-chapter ceiling.

What to watch: Whether Williams retires after the 2025 season or whether he extends for one more year with the 49ers as veteran insurance.
