Five-season career arc has been jagged but elite: tier 2 (#16) in 2021, tier 7 (#54) in 2022, tier 6 (#47) in 2023, tier 2 (#10) in 2024, and tier 3 (#21) in 2025. The 2022-2023 dip was the back injuries; the 2024-2025 production tracks the Stoutland-coached technique. At 29 with the contract through 2028 plus two Super Bowl rings, he is the LT cornerstone for the back half of his career.
Mailata came to the NFL as Philadelphia's 7th-round pick (233rd overall) in 2018 from Australian rugby league, having never played a single down of organized American football. He spent his first two seasons on the practice squad learning the position from scratch, then broke through as the Eagles' starting left tackle in 2020. He has won Super Bowl LVII (vs Kansas City after the 2022 season) and Super Bowl LIX (vs Kansas City after the 2024 season), plus made the 2024 Pro Bowl, in what has become one of the great late-developmental stories in modern NFL history.
