Markel Bell 2026 NFL Draft Profile | OT from Miami (FL)

Scouting Report

Markel Bell is one of the largest and longest offensive tackle prospects in recent memory standing 6-9 and 340 pounds with 36-plus-inch arms that give him a rare physical profile for the position. A zero-star high school recruit from Cleveland Mississippi Bell attended Holmes Community College before transferring to Miami as a four-star JUCO prospect where he became the starting left tackle and helped the Hurricanes reach the National Championship game. His elite length allows him to establish leverage and make first contact at a distance that most offensive linemen cannot match and he has exceptional grip strength and core strength to overwhelm defenders once he gets his hands on them. Bell shows great foot quickness in his pass set despite his limited overall athleticism and his anchor and core engagement buy time for the quarterback effectively. He has shown significant technical improvement and a steep progression trajectory going from a zero-star recruit to a Senior Bowl invitee and one of the fastest risers in the 2026 class. The Orlando Brown Jr comparison is apt as both share mountain-sized frames elite length and strength with limited athleticism but the ability to be quality starters in the right scheme. However Bell is a limited athlete in open space who struggles with run blocking due to high pad level and leverage disadvantages. He cannot consistently get underneath defender pads for displacement and his recovery on inside counters is poor due to limited quick-twitch athleticism. He needs to widen his stride and improve vertical set footwork and he can lean when punching getting out of position against power rushers. He is too unrefined for true Day One starter consideration but profiles as an early Day Two prospect with franchise tackle potential if his development continues.
