Seth McGowan is a physically gifted downhill running back who took a winding five-school journey from Oklahoma to Texas College to Butler Community College to New Mexico State and finally to Kentucky where he produced 12 scrimmage touchdowns in 2025. A former consensus four-star recruit McGowan flashed at Oklahoma as a true freshman averaging 6.4 yards per carry before being released from the program following legal issues. At 215 pounds he has prototypical NFL size for a between-the-tackles back running with an aggressive north-south style that keeps his shoulders square and gets downhill quickly. He showed receiving ability at the Senior Bowl freezing a linebacker with a hesitation-shake move before stacking him for a deep touchdown catch in one-on-one drills. His PFF Senior Bowl team drill grades were clean with zero negatively graded snaps across 37 reps. However he will turn 26 during October of his rookie season making him extremely old for a running back entering the NFL. His projected 4.64 forty suggests below-average long speed and he often gets chased down on outside runs. Ball security is a concern with 5 fumbles in his last two seasons. His pass protection ranks 118th out of 137 eligible Power 4 running backs per PFF. He showed declining efficiency averaging less than 4.3 yards per carry in 8 of 11 games in 2025. McGowan projects as a late-round flier or priority UDFA whose best path is as a short-yardage and goal-line specialist.
