STM Take
Williams's climb from STTM #59 tier 8 in 2024 to #14 tier 4 in 2025 is the largest rank jump on the entire RB board, 45 spots in one offseason move. His 2021 PFWA All-Rookie team year and the 2020 PFF college tape are real talent markers; the four seasons of tier-8 NFL play in between are the warning. Dallas's offense made him relevant again.
Williams was born in Wallace, North Carolina, won four straight state titles at Wallace-Rose Hill (graduating valedictorian with a 4.6 GPA), and played three years at North Carolina. He set Pro Football Focus's then-highest rushing grade ever (95.9) in 2020. Denver took him 35th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in Denver before signing with Dallas in 2025.
Strengths
- 45-spot rank jump from 2024 to 2025, the largest positive move at any position on this year's board.
- 193 career catches for 1,103 yards and 7 receiving TDs; the pass-game profile travels through team changes.
Concerns
- 4.2 career YPC on 3,595 yards is the lowest among all top-15 RBs in 2025; the volume case lives entirely on workload.
- Career history before 2025 reads tier 8 four times in five seasons; the 2025 rebound is a single year against a long down trend.
What to watch: Whether Dallas's run-heavy game scripts hold up in 2026; the entire tier-4 case is volume-dependent.
