STM Take

Career trajectory was building toward tier 1 territory before the October 2024 knee injury. Pro Bowl in 2024 plus four prior top-50 STTM finishes confirms the ceiling profile. The 2025 tier 5 (#36) finish almost certainly reflects post-ACL recovery time, not a structural decline. At 27 with the contract through 2030 (5-year, $113M extension), the 2026 trajectory depends entirely on knee recovery.

Darrisaw came out of Virginia Tech as Minnesota's 1st-round pick (23rd overall) in 2021 after a junior season that earned him 1st-team All-ACC honors. He has spent his entire career at left tackle for the Vikings and made the 2024 Pro Bowl. His career arc has been steady tier 3 production (#50 as a rookie, then #23, #44, #23, #36) with the 2024 Pro Bowl season as the peak. A torn ACL plus MCL in October 2024 was almost certainly the root cause of the 2025 tier 5 (#36) finish on a partial sample.

Strengths

  • 2024 Pro Bowl plus the $113M extension establishes franchise-cornerstone status at LT. Virginia Tech 1st-team All-ACC pedigree plus 23rd overall draft slot confirms the ceiling.
  • Three consecutive tier 3-or-better STTM finishes pre-injury (#23 in 2022, #44 in 2023 with brief injury, #23 in 2024) shows the year-over-year consistency.

Concerns

  • October 2024 torn ACL plus MCL is the immediate 2026 variable. Knee injuries on tackles often have lingering effects on lateral movement.
  • Vikings' broader OL transition (Brian O'Neill's 2023 Achilles recovery) plus the JJ McCarthy starter rotation adds protection-scheme uncertainty.

What to watch: Whether Darrisaw's 2026 finish returns to his 2024 Pro Bowl baseline (#23 or better) or whether the knee residual permanently caps his ceiling at tier 4.
