Kage Casey is a compact, powerful offensive tackle from Boise State who earned back-to-back All-Mountain West honors and started 28 games at left tackle over two seasons. The 6-5, 311-pound former 3-star recruit possesses very good play strength with a stiff punch and strong core that allows him to brace and anchor on command against power rushers. Casey uses good hand placement with high-low clamp or double-under technique to quickly latch rushers and control the point of attack. His angle-drive blocks and down blocks are effective at solidifying run lanes off his backside, and he takes good angles with the right timing and tempo when getting to the second level. Casey plays long to maximize his length despite a compact frame and shows good processing skills that keep him on time and in position. However, Casey shows stiffness in his lower half that limits his recovery ability and lateral movement. He floats off his spot in pass protection when facing tempo or lag time, creating creases for penetrators on stunts. His upright playing style makes it difficult to regain leverage once defenders get on his edges. Casey struggled during Senior Bowl practices, where multiple pass rushers dominated him -- Romello Height beat him for multiple pressures and a would-be sack, and Dani Dennis-Sutton beat him for a sack with a rip move. He also played in the CFP Quarterfinal Fiesta Bowl against Penn State and the Mountain West Championship against UNLV. Casey profiles as a Day 3 offensive tackle who can compete for a roster spot with his strength and processing but needs to improve his pass protection consistency at the next level.
