STM Take

Three straight tier 8 finishes (#74, #87, #92) define the receiving role: backup-tier production behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. The 2025 game log has a Wk 16 16.2 PPR spike and Wk 18 8.2; the surrounding zeros and sub-3 PPR weeks confirm the WR3/4 reality. He stays employed for the special-teams value, not the receiving production.

Raymond came out of Holy Cross as an undrafted free agent in 2016 with Denver. He bounced through Denver, the Jets, Tennessee, and the Giants before landing with Detroit in 2021 where he became one of the league's best punt returners. He earned 1st-team All-Pro honors as a return specialist in 2023 and made the Pro Bowl in 2024. His receiving role has been steady WR4 across his Detroit tenure: tier 7 #56 in 2021 was his STTM high, with tier 8 finishes since.

Strengths

  • 1st-team All-Pro punt returner in 2023 plus Pro Bowl in 2024 establishes elite special-teams value that few WR4s match.
  • Wk 16 2025's 16.2 PPR shows the spike-week ceiling when Detroit schemes him a target. Career-long Detroit tenure (5 seasons) means the institutional knowledge is real.

Concerns

  • Four straight tier 8 receiving finishes confirms the WR role is rotational, not defined. Two zero-PPR games in his 2025 sample (Wks 9, 11) show the floor when Detroit doesn't engineer his targets.
  • Holy Cross UDFA pedigree plus age 30 means there is no upward receiving trajectory available. The role is permanent ST-specialist plus emergency WR depth.

What to watch: Whether Detroit retains him for 2026 as the primary punt returner or moves on with the Jameson Williams role expansion absorbing his snaps.
