STM Take

The Year 2 jump from #110 (tier 8) to #49 (tier 7) is meaningful even if the absolute rank stays in tier 7 territory. Wks 10, 11, and 15 (15, 12.4, 20.8 PPR) show the role is now substantive. The Wk 18 zero PPR and Wk 14 4.1 floor games are the reminder that the Broncos offense still cycles through Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims for the alpha share. He is establishing himself as a meaningful WR2/3 piece for 2026.

Franklin came out of Oregon as Denver's 4th-round pick (102nd overall) in 2024 after his senior season produced 1,383 receiving yards on 81 catches plus 14 touchdowns. He played his entire college career with Bo Nix at quarterback, which made him the obvious pick for the Broncos reuniting their college QB-WR connection. His 2024 rookie season was disappointing (tier 8 #110 on a thin sample), but the 2025 season delivered the expected Year 2 jump: tier 7 #49 with multiple meaningful spike games.

Strengths

  • 1,383 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns at Oregon in 2023 plus the Bo Nix connection is a real college production foundation. The Year 2 jump (#110 to #49) is exactly what 4th-round breakout looks like.
  • Wks 10, 11, and 15 2025 produced spike games of 15, 12.4, and 20.8 PPR. The Bo Nix-Franklin chemistry shows up in the spike weeks.

Concerns

  • Tier 7 ceiling is still below WR2 territory. The Wk 18 zero PPR and Wk 14 4.1 show the floor when defenses prioritize the Sutton-Mims combo.
  • Courtland Sutton's contract through 2027 plus Marvin Mims's ascending role compresses Franklin's target ceiling. 2026 target share growth requires one of those to step back.

What to watch: Whether his 2026 target share clears 5 per game across the first six weeks, the threshold that separates a rotational piece from a meaningful WR2/3 in Sean Payton's offense.
