The 2025 #42 (tier 6) finish on a 6-game sample badly understates the player. Wks 1-5 produced 22.5, 9, 24.4, 20.2, 19.1 PPR, four games above 19 PPR, before a Wk 6 step-back and the Wk 10 injury ended the season. The underlying skill set has not changed; the 2026 question is purely Jets QB play, because the 2022 OROY ceiling re-emerges whenever the QB is functional.
Wilson came out of Ohio State as the New York Jets' #10 overall pick in 2022 after a junior season that produced 1,058 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns alongside Chris Olave and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in one of college football's deepest WR rooms. He won 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year on 83 receptions for 1,103 yards despite a four-QB carousel. He posted three straight 1,000-yard seasons (2022-2024) and reached tier 3 #21 in 2024 with Aaron Rodgers as his QB. The 2025 season ended at Wk 10 due to a knee injury that compressed his rank to #42 (tier 6).
Strengths
- 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year (83 catches, 1,103 yards) plus three straight 1,000-yard seasons under four different QBs establishes elite per-target production. Wks 1-5 2025 produced four games of 19+ PPR.
- Career separation metrics are top-15 at the position. The Jets WR1 status is locked, and his 2024 ranking jump (#58 to #21) with Aaron Rodgers showed the ceiling when QB play is even competent.
Concerns
- Season-ending knee injury in Wk 10 2025 is the immediate 2026 variable; recovery timing is the structural unknown.
- Jets QB room remains a problem heading into 2026. The 2023 tier 8 (#58) finish with Zach Wilson at QB is the floor outcome when the offense fails.
What to watch: Whether the Jets' 2026 QB situation (Justin Fields or a new addition) gives him sustained league-average QB play across 16+ games, the only sample size that lets him return to tier 3 territory.
