STM Take
Croskey-Merritt's rookie season at STTM #24 tier 6 from a seventh-round pick is one of the cleanest "late-round hit" stories on the board. He led all rookies in rushing TDs with eight and produced an 805-yard, 4.6 YPC line. The path (zero-star to D2 to NCAA limbo to Day 3 to rookie production) is the underdog case fully realized.
Croskey-Merritt was born in Montgomery, Alabama, was a zero-star recruit at Sidney Lanier, and spent four years at Alabama State, one at New Mexico (1,190 yards and 17 TDs in 2023), and one game at Arizona before an NCAA eligibility dispute ended his college career. The Commanders took him 245th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he led all 2025 rookies in rushing TDs with eight.
Strengths
- Led all 2025 NFL rookies in rushing TDs (8); the goal-line role is already his.
- 805 rushing yards on 4.6 YPC across a 17-game rookie season as a 7th-round pick is rare draft-class value.
Concerns
- Only 9 career catches; pass-game role does not yet exist, which caps the PPR ceiling.
- Recent game log shows multiple sub-5 PPR weeks; the touch-share consistency is not there yet.
What to watch: Whether Washington commits Anthony Brown-Jenkins or Brian Robinson Jr. snaps to him in 2026; the talent earned year-two opportunity.
