STM Take
Stafford climbed back to STTM #5 tier 2 in 2025 after a tier-6 dip to #22 in 2024, the second time in his Rams tenure he has bounced from a down year. The arm is intact, the offense around him has stabilized, and the rank says the 38-year-old version still plays inside the top tier when healthy. The case is built on rebounds rather than a sustained baseline.
Stafford was born in Tampa and grew up at Highland Park in Dallas before three years at Georgia, where he became the first overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft. He spent 12 seasons in Detroit, then was traded to the Rams in 2021 and won Super Bowl LVI in his first season in Los Angeles. He has made five Pro Bowls and turned 38 ahead of the 2026 season.
Strengths
- Bounced from STTM #22 tier 6 to STTM #5 tier 2 in a single year, the kind of recovery only a few veterans on the list have authored.
- Five Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl ring, with a Rams system still designed around his pre-snap reads.
Concerns
- Age 38 with a recent injury history that already produced one tier-6 season; the next dip is more likely than the next rebound.
- Two of the last four STTM seasons have been tier 4 or worse, so the floor is real even with the 2025 rebound on top.
What to watch: Games played. The rank case collapses if back or thumb issues knock him out for more than two starts.
