STM Take
Three straight seasons in tier 7 or worse (#27, #26, #37) confirm the trajectory. 2023's 1,539-scrimmage-yard production is gone, and the 2025 game log (eight straight games under 9 PPR) shows what a passing-down-only role looks like in this offense. He is a third-down specialist with a clear ceiling.
White came out of Arizona State (after transferring from Mt. SAC) as Tampa Bay's 3rd-round pick (91st overall) in 2022. He posted 1,539 yards from scrimmage in 2023 (990 rushing, 549 receiving), one of the league's better dual-threat lines that season. The 2024 emergence of rookie Bucky Irving compressed his role from feature back to passing-down specialist, and the 2025 season completed that transition with White slipping to clear backup status behind Irving.
Strengths
- 2023 produced 1,539 yards from scrimmage and a 64-catch receiving line, which establishes him as a genuine passing-down asset for any team that wants a specialist.
- Pass-protection grades from his Tampa tenure are above average for the position; he can stay on the field for an entire third-down series, which is half the value of a roster spot.
Concerns
- Three straight tier-7-or-worse STTM finishes (#27 in 2023, #26 in 2024, #37 in 2025) is the definition of a stalled trajectory.
- Eight straight 2025 games under 9 PPR, with five under 6 PPR, is the production line of a backup who has lost both early-down and goal-line work to Irving.
What to watch: Whether Tampa Bay keeps him in 2026 as the third-down passing back or moves on for a cheaper specialist, given his contract expiration and Irving's lead-back lock.
