STM Take
The career arc is jagged but the 2025 #63 (tier 8) finish is the worst of his career and confirms the body cannot sustain the 2021 peak anymore. From tier 1 (#1) in 2021 to tier 8 (#63) in 2025 across four full seasons is the trajectory of a player who needs the Seahawks' role to compress further. Eight straight 2025 weeks under 12 PPR show the floor is now the norm.
Kupp came out of Eastern Washington (FCS) as the Los Angeles Rams' 3rd-round pick (69th overall) in 2017. His 2021 triple-crown season (145 catches, 1,947 yards, 16 touchdowns) won him both Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl LVI MVP, plus the tier 1 (#1) STTM finish. He also reached tier 1 (#3) in 2019. A torn ankle ligament and persistent hamstring issues across 2022-2024 limited him to inconsistent availability. Los Angeles released him after the 2024 season; Seattle signed him to a 3-year, $45M deal as Geno Smith's veteran target.
Strengths
- 2021 Offensive Player of the Year, Super Bowl LVI MVP, plus the triple crown (145 catches, 1,947 yards, 16 TDs) and tier 1 (#1) STTM finish establish Hall-of-Fame trajectory.
- Career receiving yards total 7,500+ across 9 seasons. The route running and slot mastery are still elite per-target when health cooperates.
Concerns
- Eight straight 2025 weeks under 12 PPR (with three under 5) is the new floor. Tier 8 (#63) is the worst finish of his career by a wide margin.
- At 33 with the documented 2022 high ankle sprain, the 2023 hamstring tear, and the 2024 ankle reaggravation, the durability question is structural. The Seahawks $45M contract is already a sunk cost.
What to watch: Whether Geno Smith returns as the starter in 2026 and whether the Seahawks offense produces 6+ targets per game for Kupp, the threshold he needs for any rebound.
