STM Take
Fields at STTM #39 tier 8 in 2025 closed his Jets year on the same trajectory as his 2024 PIT stint (#24 tier 6) and his 2023 CHI line (#26 tier 7). Four NFL seasons, four different teams, four tier-6-or-worse finishes. The rushing profile (2,892 career yards, 23 TDs) is real; the passing component has not arrived.
Fields was born in Kennesaw, Georgia and starred at Harrison High before a transfer arc that took him from Georgia to Ohio State, where he was twice named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and reached the 2021 National Championship Game. Chicago took him 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He owns the NFL single-game record for rushing yards by a quarterback (178) and was the third NFL quarterback ever to record a 1,000-yard rushing season. He has since started for the Bears, Steelers, and Jets across four NFL seasons.
Strengths
- NFL single-game record for QB rushing yards (178) and 23 career rushing TDs; the fantasy floor lives off the legs.
- Two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year keeps the original ceiling argument credible even after four pro seasons.
Concerns
- Four NFL seasons, zero tier-5-or-better finishes; the passing-game development has not arrived.
- 61.4 percent career completion percentage and 84.7 passer rating are bottom-quartile for a fifth-year starter.
What to watch: Whether the 2026 system can finally pair his rushing baseline with a tier-5 passing line; that combination would be a real fantasy QB1.
