Scouting Report

LSU · 2026 draft class

Garrett Nussmeier is one of the best raw processors in the 2026 NFL Draft class-a timing and rhythm quarterback who delivers highly catchable passes at all three levels of the field. At 6'0", 205 pounds, the LSU signal-caller entered the program as a 4-star recruit in 2021 and waited his turn behind Heisman winner Jayden Daniels before seizing control of the offense in 2024 with 4,000+ passing yards and 29 touchdowns leading LSU to a 9-4 record and Texas Bowl victory. Like a true coach's son, Nussmeier uses checks at the line to clear up defensive looks and get his offense in favorable positions. He transfers weight well when throwing from a set base with a polished, tight motion and clean release, adjusting release speed and arm angles to match windows. Despite being pressured 150 times in 2024, he was sacked just 15 times-an elite pressure-to-sack rate showcasing exceptional pocket movement and spatial awareness. However, his 2025 season derailed when he was benched by new coaching staff after Brian Kelly's firing, playing just nine games for 1,927 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. His 12 interceptions in 2024 were fifth-most in college football, and his 200-pound frame raises serious durability concerns after the beating he took from SEC front sevens.
