STM Take

Love climbed to STTM #7 tier 2 in 2025, his third straight starting year and the first time he has cracked tier 2 since taking over. The trajectory has been monotonic up the ladder, which is rare for a QB who started his career as a backup. The team's investment ($220M) tracks the rank; the rank is now starting to track the team's view.

Love was born in Bakersfield, California and was the only FBS scholarship offer Utah State extended him out of Liberty High School. He grew nine inches between his freshman year of high school and his first year of college, won 2018 New Mexico Bowl MVP at Utah State, and was drafted 26th overall by Green Bay in 2020. He sat behind Aaron Rodgers for three years, took over in 2023, has led the Packers to the playoffs in all three years as starter, and signed a four-year, $220 million extension before the 2024 season.

Strengths

  • Three consecutive playoff appearances to open his career as a starter, including a 2023 wild-card win in Dallas.
  • Two-tier improvement from 2024 (STTM #15 tier 4) to 2025 (#7 tier 2), the cleanest year-over-year jump in the top tier outside Maye.

Concerns

  • Career sample is only three full starting seasons, none at tier 1, so the ceiling case is theoretical rather than proven.
  • Knee issues during the 2024 season already cost availability; the offense rebuilds slowly when he is not under center.

What to watch: Whether the 2025 jump compounds into a tier-1 finish, which would be the first of his career.
