STM Take

Hurts is the reigning Super Bowl MVP at STTM #14 tier 4, an outcome only possible because the STTM profile leans on passing volume that Philadelphia has actively compressed. The team has built around the QB sneak and the run game; the resume is built on January. Tier 4 looks like an underrated rank if you weight Super Bowl wins, and exactly right if you weight regular-season passing efficiency, which the model does.

Hurts was born in Houston, won SEC Offensive Player of the Year as an Alabama freshman in 2016, transferred to Oklahoma for his senior year, and finished a Heisman runner-up. Philadelphia drafted him 53rd overall in 2020, and he has since won Super Bowl LIX and its Most Valuable Player award, earned three Pro Bowls, the 2022 Bert Bell Award, and second-team All-Pro honors in 2022. He owns the NFL record for rushing touchdowns in a single Super Bowl by a quarterback and ranks among the all-time top rushing-TD totals at the position.

Strengths

  • Super Bowl LIX champion and MVP, with 63 career rushing TDs the second-most ever by a quarterback.
  • Three Pro Bowls and a second-team All-Pro in his first six seasons, all as a 2nd-round pick.

Concerns

  • STTM rank slipped from #8 tier 2 in 2024 to #14 tier 4 in 2025; the passing component of his game is where the rank lives.
  • 64.4 percent career completion percentage on 2,393 attempts is the lowest in the top eight of the 2025 board.

What to watch: Whether Philadelphia stretches the passing menu back open in 2026, or stays committed to the run-heavy script that lifted them to a ring.
